Lisburn Downtown Centre secure Salary Costs

Lisburn Downtown Centre received a grant of £3,500 towards the salary of the part time Coordinator.

Jill Watton, Project Coordinator of Lisburn Downtown Centre, and volunteer Geraldine McKeever were presented with a certificate by Ms Janine Donnelly, Trustee of the Halifax Foundation, today at the Lisburn Halifax branch, to celebrate their success in receiving a grant of £3,500 recently. Jill Watton stated “'The Lisburn Downtown Centre was established to tackle a shortfall in services; to help those suffering from mental health issues, isolation within their community and for those with a mild learning difficulty who don’t feel they ‘fit’ with mainstream support.

The Project Coordinator is the only member of staff and is responsible for facilitating the delivery of our support services and day-to-day running of the centre. Halifax Foundation for Northern Ireland have helped to secure this position for another year, ensuring those feeling isolated within our local community have a safe-place to belong. All at Lisburn Downtown would like to extend a massive thank you to Halifax Foundation for Northern Ireland, whose continued support has enabled us to be a support to those who need us.'

Ms Donnelly stated “The Halifax Foundation for Northern Ireland is delighted to support the work of Lisburn Downtown Centre. The money will be used towards the salary of the part time Coordinator. We wish them every success in the future of the charity, helping to provide activities through their many services including Welcome Club, Cheer You Up Club, Contact Group and the Friday Club.

Alana Cattermole, Assistant Branch Manager of Halifax Lisburn stated “The Halifax Foundation for Northern Ireland operate a colleague Matched Giving Scheme, matching the volunteering and fundraising efforts of employees supporting local charities. It is my pleasure to facilitate this certificate presentation today, raising the profile of this wonderful charity to colleagues of the Halifax, and celebrating the work of the Foundation”.

Halifax Foundation for Northern Ireland awards approximately £1 million annually in support of the Northern Ireland Community to enable people, who are disadvantaged or with special needs, to participate actively in their communities. Their income is derived from a shareholding in Lloyds Banking Group, of which Halifax are a part of.
